ZINC OXIDES

Zinc oxide is a chemical product, soluble in water and in acids, it has a characteristic White colour, and it has a high heat capacity.  Zinc oxide is the fourth mineral in exports in the world.

Main uses and applications of Zinc oxide are: 

In rubber industry

It is used as an activator in rubber compounds, to make organic accelerants display all its activity during vulcanization with Sulphur.

Zinc oxide in Pharmaceutical industry

Zinc oxide is mainly used as an ointment or antiseptic powder, due to the fact that it is able to close skin pores, protecting it from the external agents that can cause swelling or make wound worse.

Uses of Zinc oxide in Metallurgy industry

This chemical compound, due to its solubility in alcohol and acids, is essential for making mirrors and coins, as well as it has characteristics that allow it to be mixed to do alloys with other metals. It is also used for making electronic parts and for the recovering of steel parts that are prone to oxidise.

Applications of Zinc oxide in cosmetic industry

Zinc oxide is used as a skin protecting layer avoiding itching and burning sensation. It is also used as a deodorizing agent as it eliminates bad odours and bacteria causing sweating. It works as sun protector and as regenerating compound of the skin.

Zinc oxide is very important in some fields related to human wellbeing, for example, in cases where mouth health this element is used in making cements useful for dental pieces repair.  When Zinc oxide is combined with eugenol, we can make am adhesive cement that is not rejected by human body, and that can be placed in the inside soft part of teeth to cover perforations caused by endodontic.
