PRODUCTS FOR RUBBER INDUSTRY

Natural rubber is an elastic polymer, with a physical appearance of milky emulsion (known as latex-sap of different plants and trees, mainly from Heveas).

Nowadays Heveas are cultivated in big plantations. In some cases these plantations are property of big tyre companies. The biggest production area is the Asian Southeast. There used to be plantations also in tropical Africa, Guinea, Liberia and Congo.

In the beginning of XVIIIth century, it was discovered that natural rubber was formed by hydrocarbon chains, and here started the possibility of producing Synthetic rubber.

Synthetic rubber is an elastomeric polymer, with great mechanical properties, which provide it to do many deforming movements due to its high elasticity.

Synthetic rubber is used as a substitute of natural rubber, especially when improvement of mechanical properties is needed.

There are many different types of synthetic rubber: SBR, BR, CIIR, Nitrile, EPDM, CR, IIR, NBR, among others. Each type has different characteristics and applications.

At present, many items are made in rubber, for many different uses. Rubber is mainly used in the manufacture of tyres, as well as technical items, due to its mechanical and chemical properties.
